SCHOLARSHIPS
In an effort to honor those who are pursuing a higher education and have been affected by addiction personally, the Michael Wilkinson Foundation awards eight $2,500 scholarships to Arlington Independent School District high school seniors annually. Scholarship awards are based on school and community involvement, academic record, financial need, essay submission, and completeness of the application.
The Foundation has awarded 64 college scholarships to high school students, totaling $160,000 awarded since 2016. Recipients’ college selections have included:

Scholarship Eligibility Checklist

Arlington Independent School District High school seniors in the graduating class of 2025 may submit an application as long as their high school requirements are completed by August 31 of their graduating year. Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis. The eligible candidate will be required to enroll as a full-time student in an undergraduate degree program for the full academic year for which the Scholarship is awarded.

Candidate must be a Texas resident and must be prepared to present a valid social security card.
Scholarship Application Terms and Requirements

Applications, including essay submissions, must be completed by March 31, 2025 at midnight.
- Only complete applications will be accepted.

Each scholarship awarded will have a value of $2,500 and is usable for one year.
- Only scholarship recipients will be formally advised that they have been awarded a Scholarship by June 15, 2025.

Scholarships will be paid directly to colleges upon verification of enrollment.

Essay - Subject: Schools in the United States today have a growing substance abuse and addiction crisis. Based on your personal knowledge or experiences, how can you affect change with your generation in battling this epidemic?
• Submit a double-spaced typed essay of at least 500 and no more than 750 words on the essay subject listed above

One Letter of Recommendation from a teacher, counselor or school administrator
- One Letter of Recommendation from an employer, minister, neighbor or adult friend over 21 years of age
